ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC25 - Week 15

Welcome to Week 15 of the 2025 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week, I might have some RED scrap sewing to do.  Keep reading to find out how the week went.

But first...

My Weekly Zoom Call with Knittingsuek was delayed, so I'll start with an addendum.  Our late afternoon meeting didn't occur until after last week's post had been released.  Here we are visiting before time to make dinner:

SUNDAY - Weekly Morning Art Zoom found me adding more collage to the journal spread I began at Friday's Weekly Evening Art Zoom.  Under paper, found stickers, and a butterfly cut from last year's Artist Almanac filled out the bulk of it:

Mid-afternoon rolled around and I headed off to a Mini-Retreat at my friend Tiffany's:

MONDAY - Day Off

Mini-Retreat Day Two:

Day Off

Mini-Retreat Day Three before heading home, I received this scrap from Tiffany's main project.  I'm not sure what I'll do with it, but I'm sure I'll think up something:

Thanks for the fun getaway, Tif!!

I got home just in time for Prompt Deck Playground.  Here is the page I worked on using the prompt cards Traci pulled for us:

WEDNESDAY - Wonderful Wednesday

Work

Then straight home for my Weekly Zoom Call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

In construction news...

Our after dinner walk revealed that we got new neighbors over the weekend:

The next foundation has been marked out.  Two more will soon follow:

Oh!  I forgot to mention that wallboard arrived this morning while I was making breakfast.  The next three houses will soon be one step closer to being completed.

THURSDAY - Work

Errands afterwards, dinner next, and then I parked myself on the couch.

FRIDAY - Day Off

Knit Group today, but no picture proof.  Ugh!  I hate it when I forget.  :o((

Get Messy's Open Studio this afternoon.  I worked on the mark making section of yesterday's River Flow lesson with Nicole Warrington.  Here are the marks I made using an array of water soluble pencils and crayons:

Later, at my Weekly Evening Art Zoom, I worked on the main part of Nicole's lesson:

Once I completed my journal spread, I decided to draw a face:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will head over to Angela's @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  I catch up with you later.  Oh!  Don't forget to check out Wednesday's entry for what I did with RED scraps this week.

But now...

I'm off to a Sew Day with my Monthly Quilt Bee.  The following members were in attendance:

What a wonderfully productive day!  Special thanks to SECU Family House, Chapel Hill for hosting us and thank you to Candy for arranging the event.

Until next time...

Wonderful Wednesday - UFO Times TWO in RED

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday)!!  I'm here to share what I did over my extended weekend.  The post title might have given you a little clue, I'm sure, but I have quite a few projects on my Spring 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club project list.

What did you finish, Joyful???

It's RED month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

I used scrap strips and stash last year...

To make not one, but TWO Jumbo Jelly Roll Race quilts during RED month.  Here is one of those waiting to be pressed b my friend's latest steam machine:

This is one of the two quilts that I loaded on my friend Tiffany's longarm during this weekend's Mini-Retreat.  It sits in one corner of her spacious basement sewing room:

The first morning, I got up early, had breakfast and headed down to attach the binding to the quilt that I quilted the evening before:

Once that was completed, I got right to work on the next project.  The second finish was quilted in a wave pattern and is shown in the photo below:

Short Track RED Race
40" x 43"

Apparently, I was so excited about my first finish...

That I forgot to get a photo while at Tiffany's so I draped it across the rails of my longarm when I got home.  I needed to share the finishes with you and the members of the UFO Club on Ravelry.  I quilted this one with large loops, but they are hard to see from the angle the photo was taken:

The Big RED Race Quilt
40" x 47"

In the background of the photo shown above, you can see that I had (incorrectly) prepared for another Color of the Month.  With how productive I was on my Mini-Retreat, I probably should have taken it with me and been ahead of the game.  Thank you SEW much for the invitation, Tiffany!  I'm looking forward to getting together again soon and I'm pleased to have these quilts ready to donate later this month at my local quilt guild.

Until next time...
Mark another UFO (or TWO) off the list!!!

The 100 Day Project - #100 Days 100 Things Decluttered - Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of the 2025 edition of #100Days100ThingsDecluttered, a special edition mini-series here at The Joyful Quilter!!  I started The 100 Day Project last week.  I'm excited that I've committed to it, again.  It's particularly popular on Instagram.  I was hesitant to participate before last year.  I'll be releasing weekly updates on Tidy Up Tuesday for those of you who might be interested in seeing what goes out the door.

What did you say your project was, again, Joyful???

I signed up with a different idea in mind than most.  You can read about it HERE.  That link will tell you all about my project.

The gist of my focus...

Decluttering my home and studio in an effort to free up space for MORE creativity.

Here is the list of items from Week 6:

1 pr cowboy boots
2 lamp shades (stacked on 2 of the lamps from last week's list)
3 decorative tins
4  shirts
5 prs. jeans
6 dresses
Total: 20/100
Updated 100 Day Project Total: 167/100

Thank you to those of you who encouraged me in my decluttering efforts last week!  I appreciate your kind comments and your willingness to cheer me along.  It really helps keep me going on this decluttering journey and thanks for a challenge from Chantal @ At the Corner of Scraps and Quilts, I did a bit deeper dive than I otherwise might have.  Thanks for the extra little push, Chantal!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC25 - Week 14

Welcome to Week 14 of the 2025 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week's schedule is a mish mash of activities and appointments.  Will I get any YELLOW scrap sewing in?  That remains to be seen.

Keep reading to see how the week pans out...

SUNDAY - So...  The day started off with my Weekly Morning Art Zoom found me making a new journal using the latest video from Natasha @ Treasure Books on YouTube:

During my Scrap Club Zoom call this afternoon, I planned the following mug rug and stitched it up when the call was done.  It's got a bit of yellow for the month of March and TEAL for the April Color of the month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

MONDAY - Mail Call Monday

Day Off

I took care of some YELLOW sewing tasks...

Then went to take my friend Hilary's some lunch.  She had knee replacement surgery a little over a week ago and can only leave the house to go to the doctor:

Day Off

Tuesday is the new Friday.  At least, today it is!  I went to Beth's for "Knit Group" since I have to work on Friday and Stacy will be chaperoning a field trip.  Tracy was able to join us because she is on Spring Break this week.  Here we are:

Tracy brought me sticker for my journal:

Thanks, T!!

When I got home I pulled out my TEAL scraps to use during the month of April:

This afternoon I joined LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color for our  Weekly Zoom Call:

WEDNESDAY - Day Off

Tracy and I met for fresh pastries at our favorite coffee shop...

With a side of knitting.  I got a good start on Tracy's Lucky 13 Sock pattern:

I took along this new mug rug.  Lead barista and baker extraordinaire, Katie, loved it:

Here's where I finished the evening.  My new sock is nearly ready for the gusset increases:

THURSDAY - Day Off

Today was my (Weekly) Quilt Group with the following members in attendance:

I got home in time for a quick lunch and made my way up to the studio for Curiosity Collective.  Today's lesson was Sketchercise with Jane Davenport.  This is my interpretation:

FRIDAY - Work

No Knit Group for me today.  :o((

After work, I got my car inspected and later I went upstairs for my Weekly Evening Art Zoom.  I worked in my new lay-flat journal, shared in Sunday's entry:

Photographed in the light of Saturday morning (with more needing to be added to the page.)

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you get a chance to visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  I'll be along later.

I was scheduled to work today.  :o((

Oh!  Yesterday Preeti @sewpreetiquilts posted the fabrics she would be working with this month.  I was confused and when I asked she clarified. So...

CORRECTION NOTICE!!!

For those of you who participate in the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge, but not the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I misunderstood Angela's post on Saturday.  The Color of the Month for April is RED!!! Please accept my apologies for the leading you astray.  If you've already started this month's project with the incorrect color, don't worry about it.  Feel free to submit the RED or TEAL project you've made to the Link Party at the end of the month.

Here are (some) of the RED scraps that I have to work with this month:

Until next time...

Spring 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

Welcome back to The Joyful Quilter!! The Spring 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club is now OPEN for sign-ups!! Participants MUST list (at least) FIVE quilt projects. Photos should accompany the list. Sign-ups end at midnight EDT on April 7, 2025.

NOTE: All qualifying finishes must be posted BEFORE midnight (EDT) on June 30, 2025!!!

What's the plan this time, Joyful???

Same plan, different term.  My strategy is usually to list WAY more projects than I could EVER possibly finish in a single session and hope for the best! The "at least FIVE" project requirement for participation is the bare minimum, but I tend to err on the side MORE is better. I haven't changed. I'm still a bit of a moody quilter. That means I have to "be in the mood" to work on any given project! By varying the size and style of the items included on my list, I have options. These choices increase the chances of finding projects that I want to work on during the quarter.

Here is my project list for the SPRING 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club:

1. QFK JRR on Steroids (2023)

2. TSC Rainbow Plus Quilt (2024)

3. Bottom of the Barrel PURPLE Race Quilt (2024)

4. Grape Candy Coated (2023)

5. A2 Baby! (2023 - on left)

6. Bright Eyes (Faces Workshop 2021)

7. Sweet Kisses (2021)

8. The Big RED Race (2024)

45" x 48"

9. DOQ Neighborhood Challenge (2023)

10. Aboriginal Runner (2022)

11. Blue and Green for Parrish (2016)

12. Kaffe Runner/Topper (2022)

13. Stitch Studio Remix (2012)

Quilting by Diane @ Stitch Studio

14. Stay at Home ROW Robin (2021)

15. Bargello Wall Hanging (2017)

16. Color Wheel Runner (2023)

17. Bottom of the Bin Topper (2024)

18. Short Track RED Race (2024)

45" x 45"

19. Scrap Jar Stars (2017)

20Like Deborah (Boschart) Only Not (2016)

SEW...

We'll see how many projects I can complete in a 3-month period of time. The reasoning behind the choice is that with 20 projects for the Spring 2025 UFO Club, I'm hoping that I will be lured by the "low hanging fruit" and build momentum for some additional quilting time. My goal is actually only ONE finish for the quarter. More than that is a bonus!  Perhaps, I will even remember to post each of them to the group... unlike the final finish for the last session.  Whoops!

Remember...

The Spring 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club is OPEN for sign-ups at THIS LINK.  YOU are invited join in the finishing fun.  Members must list 5 (or more) projects for participation. Sign-ups will close at Midnight (EDT) on Monday, April, 7th!  Please drop me an email, if you find that you need help with the process. Email if you need help with the process. (You will need to sign-up for Ravelry, the Quilters Knitting group, then state your intentions and projects in the discussion thread linked above.)

Until next time...
Wish me luck!!
